Lammershoek, Terravinum Reserve White 2015
This wine is considered a rare white blend, that offers generous green and flinty notes. As an unusual blend, of Chenin, Chardonnay and Viognier, it highlights some of South Africa’s unique whites.
Characteristics
Tasting notes
Light wheat yellow. The nose is slightly chalky at first, then It opens to flowery, rose petals and honey. The mouthfeel of flowers, strawberries, hints of lemon and medium-intensity on the nose of tropical fruits. Dry with slightly earthy undertones rounded off by a creamy medium finish.
Gastronomy
This wine works well with Asian and Mediterranean dishes with fresh seafoods or just enjoy it on its own.
Vineyards
True Swartland terroir wines crafted with minimum intervention. Minerality is the key, backed by natural fruit and spice flavours from 30 – 50 year-old vines.
Aging method
The vines are aged between 15 – 51 years. Handpicked early in the morning and cooled overnight. All the varietals were handled separately in the cellar and the final blend was only made after the 8-month ageing process. The wines were fermented and aged in various size concrete, stainless steel tanks and oak barrels.
Can be enjoyed now, but will improve with 15 years of aging.
