Tasting notes
Luminous, limpid ruby red. Rich, pronounced aromas of fresh fruit immediately emerge on the nose, along with a subtle spice classic to the variety. Aromas from black cherry, plum, blueberry and violets lead the nose with a hint of ground pepper. Supple tannins balanced by a good but not excessive alcohol with right amount of acidity. The palate opens full and satisfying, with glossy, elegant tannins. It concludes with a full-flavoured, long-lasting finish.

Gastronomy
A fine accompaniment to roasted red meats, grilled fish and medium-age cheeses like Gouda, Edam, Jarlsberg, Cantal, and Kashkaval/Cașcaval.

Vineyards
The name comes from a location on an old map found within the Montecchiesi estate. Pure Syrah grapes are grown in Cortona. This grape variety is well adapted to the territory of Cortona. Cortona is one of the hottest areas in Tuscany, but the temperature range between day and night sets it apart and ensures that this grape variety reaches optimum maturity. The clusters are hand-harvested, generally in mid-September.

Aging method
After harvesting, the berries macerate for 18 days. The must begins fermenting at 20°C and reaches 28°C at pressing-off; malolactic immediately follows in stainless steel. Six following months in large oak casks.

Serving temperature:
The serving temperature is extremely important and crucial to unlocking the full flavour and aromas of a wine. It is important to remember that each wine has an ideal serving temperature and one temperature is not suitable for all.
